Congratulations from the entire editorial team! In making this decision, the judges agreed that:

This article deals with an issue of high importance (climate change), tackling an aspect of mitigation that has been relatively little examined and is poorly covered by policy, and does so in a tough-minded and effective way. I think the authors’ intellectual aims and practical ambition in this piece are terrific. Their coverage of the research is great and their arguments are well-structured and powerful. The article is a strong example of good solid academic work that can enlighten readers and also propel debate and mobilize activists.
